?Ordinary men with extraordinary moves? stomp across Uptown to ...

The 610 Stompers will bring their throwback antics to bars across Uptown New Orleans on Saturday to raise money for the Roots of Music education program, but the 80s-themed fun will get an early start tonight with a registration party at Le Bon Temps Roule.

The event is this Saturday, June 9, and merely requires that you don your favorite 80s work out attire, for the men grow that mustache, and bar hop through uptown. The Stompers will teach their signature dance routines to participants and stomp, in no particular order, to Grits Bar, The Kingpin, Le Bon Temps, F&M, and Fat Harry?s.

The first 25 people at each pre-registration event will get a free 610 Stompers Calendar!

Proceeds from the event will benefit The Roots of Music, a not-for-profit organization providing year round free music education, academic tutoring, and mentorship for youths in the Greater New Orleans area.? Their marching band, The Marching Crusaders, have been selected to perform in the 124th Tournament of the Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA on January 1st, 2013. Funds raised at this year?s Ball Crawl will help deflect trip costs. The 610 Stompers, having experienced the thrill of performing and representing the New Orleans area on a national stage in the Macy?s Thanksgiving Day Parade, are excited to support The Roots of Music in their epic event.

About the 610 Stompers:
The 610 Stompers are an all-male dance organization with a mission of giving back to the community through dance and entertainment. The group is 80 members strong of ?Ordinary Men? of all ages and professions dedicated to entertaining the world with our ?Extraordinary Moves.? They are featured performers in many parades, professional sporting events, and special events and fundraisers in the New Orleans area and beyond. ?

About the Roots of Music:
The Roots of Music offers children, ages 9-14, an escape and alternative to the dangerous after school street life of New Orleans. The program currently serves 132 low-income students, who begin with little or no musical experience, and work towards performing in the city?s largest middle school marching band, The Roots of Music Marching Crusaders.
